A few months ago Tenae contacted us to shoot her wedding but unfortunately we where not able to photograph her big day. Happily Tenae got back in touch with us recently to have a portrait sitting of herself, her fiance, her sister and their 2 dogs Lola & Max! We had fun with Tenae, Aneak & Richard at Tranby House in Maylands shooting a series of portraits. Pim & Carlos Linares

Pim & Carlos chose to marry in an intimate service on a Friday afternoon in February. Their choice of Matilda Bay for the service and reception was fitting considering Carlos had proposed riverside last year and it made for a lovely backdrop to their day. We got to spend some time with the couple and their bridal party on location in Subiaco which gave us a chance to combine Pim's love of arty, rustic, cafe style backgrounds with Carlos' love of greenery. The day went super fast (as all weddings do) but it looked to us like Pim and Carlos were in for a fun night. We hope you guys had a wonderful celebration and we're still super jealous of the honeymoon to the US! Much love and appreciation J&K

Lauren & Justin Abbott... a very hot day!

On a very hot day (the 21st of January 2012) at the Cottesloe Civic Center Lauren and Justin said "I do". Lauren was a little concerned about possible stormy weather in the weeks leading up to the big day and instead got the start of our recent heat wave! Justin and his brothers were troopers throughout the day (being in suits and standing in the sun at the alter) and all things considered everyone managed to stay in high spirits and enjoy themselves (I think 20mins in the air conditioned limo and some cold beer might have helped!). Matilda Bay is where Justin asked Lauren to marry him and it was only fitting that Matilda bay be where they celebrated their gorgeous wedding reception with family & friends. It was a beautiful wedding and I'm sure a wonderful celebration, hope you both had an amazing & memorable night. Kick back and relax while you're in Bali, oh and have a cocktail for me! Merge Photography at the EBridal Expo 2012!

Just before we went on our Xmas break we had the pleasure to photograph Andrew, Linda & their two boys Jackson & Noah around Fremantle. We started the shoot at the E-shed Markets in Fremantle and finished up at the Wool Stores. It was an early start at 8.30am in the morning so just to make sure everyone was awake we did some jumping shots (he he he) which turned out awesome if I say so myself. On Tuesday I got to be reunited with a wedding couple of mine from many years back (gosh time flies when your having fun!). I photographed Caroline and Michal's wedding when working for another studio over 4 years ago and they got in touch while visiting Perth from Adelaide to have a family portrait done. I got to meet their gorgeous twin girls Amelia and Naomi and see Caroline's whole family again... sooo exciting! On Friday the 25th of November we had the pleasure to photograph Chloe and Sam Woods Wedding. The Ceremony was held at Queens Gardens in East Perth and was beautifully decorated by Bride and Groom Store. We headed onto the city to have some location photos done on King Street and Wolf Lane. Getting stuck in some heavy traffic we still managed to capture these two love birds having fun. One of our favourites was when Sam was holding Chloe's Veil {so Cheeky}! They celebrated their reception at the Boatshed Restaurant in South Perth which was also fabulously decorated {we love it when there is heaps of details to capture}. Mr & Mrs Brown's Wedding! (AKA Stink and Mink)

It decided to rain on 5^th of November 2011 but that didn’t ruin the day for Melissa and Geoff as they kept positive and were troopers going in and out of the rain throughout the day. They say it’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day and I agree don’t sweat the small stuff (these thing are out of your control so just enjoy it). Melissa was a bit worried about walking down the aisle (understandable) as it was an outdoor service at Sir James Mitchell Park South Perth and last minute changes were made as they provided a marquee to stand underneath. We had a bit of a break in the weather to do family photos which worked out great. We missed out on the blue boat shed photos but got some great shots at King Street in front of His Majesty's Theatre. In contrast we shot also against the red brick walls in alley ways on King Street. It was the perfect weather to shoot at Bennion Beach where Melissa and Geoff used balloons as props to add just that bit of colour. I hope you guys had heaps of fun throughout the day and had a great time at your reception at the Marmion Angling &Aquatic Club. Enjoy the honeymoon! It was a pleasure to take part in your big day! It Rained and rained… but they lived happily ever after – Burswood Wedding Melvin & Deb Sia

It’s good luck if it rains on your wedding day. I stand by that saying (even though I’m sure the person who first made it up had a rainy wedding day and was trying to look on the bright side) and I know that despite all the rain on Melvin and Deborah’s big day on the 5^th of November this gorgeous couple never lost sight of what this day was all about, their love for one another, their commitment to each other and building a future together. No amount of wind or rain could keep them from celebrating the union of their lives together. Although the rain meant we had to make some last minute changes to the day (like not being able to do our Family photos outside the lovely St Columbus Church in South Perth and a quick location change for photos) Melvin and Deb and their ever so obliging Bridal Party & Family took the changes in their stride and we ended up getting some beautiful photos on location in East Perth in-between rain showers and the family photos along the river at the reception (side note – Burberry Umbrellas look great in photos!). A big thank you has to go out to Fritz Rolls Royce limos, these guys were amazing. They had about 1000 umbrellas in their possession and made sure that no one (not even me) got a drop of rain on us. Another shout out has to go to Edwina from Bridal Creations, she was a star on the day and a decorating diva (the reception at the Burswood on Swan Function room was gorgeous). Melvin & Deb, I hope you’re enjoying Europe and sipping on some delicious wine. Thank you for inviting me into your lives and allowing me the pleasure of documenting your wedding day. Alexandra & Peter Tonon Wedding!

Alex and Peter tied the knot on the 4th of November 2011 at a beautiful ceremony in St Josephs Catholic Church in Subiaco. It was our first time ever to see the groom have a song prepared and play the guitar for his bride. It was really sweet and brought some tears to peoples eyes. We then went onto location photos at the park across from the Old Swan Brewery on Mounts Bay road. While we took photos of the happy couple a ladybird landed on Alexandras dress which is funny because she loves them and all the decorations for the wedding had ladybirds on them. We also went to East Perth and took photos inside Toast Cafe (which is a great place for breakfast). We love the photos of Mr & Mrs Tonon drinking tea like they have been married for ever. These two love birds met in Darwin playing hockey and after several failed attempts Stephen proposed in Central Park New York on a beautiful sunny morning. So now everyone that reads this say Ooooohhhhh, not many girls get a proposal in New York :) They tied the knot on the 21st of October 2011 at Brookliegh Estate in the Swan Valley which is a gorgeous venue for a wedding. The girls got ready at the Pan Pacific and got lucky when they got upgraded to the Presidential Suite. It was one of the biggest rooms we have ever photographed in a hotel. We had perfect weather all day and great light which both Jodie and I got excited about (very important for photography). Clare + Robbie = Love ( The Silvester Wedding, Caversham House 15th of October 2011 )

Clare and Robbie's wedding at Caversham House was a day of firsts for us. It was the first time we've ever come across boys having to spend the night before the wedding sleeping on bunk beds, It was the first time we've ever seen a 2m tall LOVE sign and the first time we've ever attempted to drive from Caversham to Leederville for location photos (with very little time!)... but... it was all good fun! Clare is actually a wedding stylist and you could tell from all of her hard work just how much she loves what she does and how special this day was to her. She looked beautiful in her gown from Brides by Design and I do believe Robbie said "have you ever seen a more stunning Bride?" a few times during the day. Clare and Robbie's special day was one of those occasions where you could just feel how happy everyone was and how much love the families have for their now newly wed children, Clare's dad especially both at the Holiday Inn (where Clare got ready) and during his speech at the reception. Our hats go off (if we wore hats that is) to the Bridal party for being organized, helpful, listening and still managing to have a laugh in the process, you guys made our job super easy (and you looked fab too!). It was a beautiful day and it was a pleasure for us to be able to share it with you both. We wish you all the happiness in the world. Much love and appreciation J&K

Chloe & Sams Engagement Portrait!

We had the Engagement Portrait Session originally booked in for the 18th of September but it poured all day so we re-booked for the 16th of October and we got a 35 degree day! Every man and his dog was at the beach but we found a quiet spot in Bennion Beach to take few photos. Thanks Chloe for being so brave as your dress got soaked and I kept on asking you to stand in spots which flooded with water. You both look very much loved up, I hope you like them! Mavis & Derell Tow - Caversham House Wedding 2nd of October 2011

He's a snazzy dresser and she's a decorating diva and on Sunday they were Married at Caversham House. I fell in love with this couple the moment I met them, Mavis and Derell are so full of life and love (for each other and their family). The whole day was an absolute blast. The morning started off with a traditional "Gate Crash" then on to a Chinese Tea Ceremony. The gate crash is where the groom and his boys try to get into the house to see the bride but are stopped by the girls and made to do some hilarious "Challenges" in order to prove the groom is worthy to marry the bride. Some of these challenges included tying as many lackey bands in each others hair as they could in 1 minute, fishing mahjong tiles out of a bath of ice water with your toes, some tricky yoga poses (one hilarious comment from one of the boys at this was "I'm Christian, I don't believe in Yoga") brushing your teeth with a wasabi and ginger paste mixture and singing Mavis's favorite song whilst dancing like ballerinas! After proving his worth to the girls and Mavis's family you would think that Derell would be ready and raring to go, but alas he ran a tiny bit late for the service at Caversham! He tells me becasue he was early to the gate crash he was late to the service to make up for it, It wouldn't have been so bad if Mavis hadn't beaten him there! Lesson one of married life, don't keep the Bride waiting! The service was lovely, tears were shed by everyone and Derell looked like one happy man as he walked his new wife down the isle! I'm so happy and privileged that I got to share your wedding day with you guys, I hope the rest of the reception at Caversham was a blast, have a wonderful honeymoon in Paris, Venice and Rome. Eat lots of ice cream and Pizza for me, I'm telling you its the best you'll ever have! All my love and appreciation J x

Kelly & Dustin Robinson, Brookland Valley Wedding 17.9.2011

Bunker Bay Resort and Brookland Valley Winery down south was the scene of the gorgeous wedding of Kelly Robinson & Dustin Robinson (Yes they had the same last name BEFORE they got married!). It was our first wedding down south for this new season and we were super excited. Quay West Resort at Bunker Bay was a perfect venue for the girls prep and while we were there it looked hopeful that the rain would hold off but as we drove to Brookland Valley it began to bucket down. Kelly and Dustin's guests made a bee line from the safety of their bus straight to the tasting room for shelter as they arrived, but then, just as suddenly as it started, the rain stopped and the sun came out (just in time for the service). Are these guys lucky or what? Luck continued to be on their side throughout the day with the next few showers holding off till we were on location safely under the shelter of a cute little rustic building or in their very cool vintage Chevrolet cars. Kelly was a trooper on the day, never once mentioning how her dress was getting wet on the ground or that she was cold (Kelly you have our utmost respect) and you could tell just how much Dustin admired his bride, he couldn't keep his eyes (or his hands) off her. We also have to give a big shout out to the bridal party for hanging on thru the rain and traipsing thru the wet vineyard. We had a blast sharing your wedding day with you guys, Kelly it was worth getting the dress wet, the photos look stunning (If we do say so ourselves). Hope you danced up a storm at the reception at Flutes! Much love and appreciation J&K

So we've decided its high time we updated our (very) old photos of us on our webiste... After all, the ones on the web were taken over 2 years ago! Over the weekend we decided to head on out into the wilderness (otherwise known as the bull rushes behind Belmont Race course!) and try and get a bit creative... The whole experience was HILARIOUS! Heather & Richards Wedding 3rd Sept 2011!

The love of board games like scrabble played a big part in Heathers and Richards Wedding. These two love birds were so much fun to photograph and not forgetting the fabulous bridal party too. Richard and Heather got married at Subiaco Church of Christ on the 3rd of September 2011. It was great to see family and friends that come over all the way from Brisbane to celebrated with the wedding couple. After the ceremony we went onto location photos and I have to say these guys missed every bit of rain with superb timing going from Rocket Fuel to Greens & Co in Leederville. We finished up at Kings Park when the rain did finally catch up to us. The reception looked amazing with the coolest Cake I have seen at a wedding! Well it wasn't really a cake was it guys? Not sure why you would have a baseball bat next to it, perhaps because it was in fact a Pinata! Hope you guys had an awesome night and a wonderful honeymoon. Jodie's Long weekend in Albany...

So last weekend I took some downtime to go on a little road trip to Albany WA. Its a LONG drive but well worth it. Around this time of year is when the whales come into King George Sound (both the Southern Right Wales and the Humpback Whales) and I was really hoping to see them but unfortunately I was a few weeks early. I did see a Humpback off the coast around the Natural Bridge (a popular tourist spot) but it was a fair way out. Albany itself is very quaint and beautiful. There is plenty to see around the town and some great little walks... oh and if you do happen to visit Albany there is a funky little coffee/wine bar called Liberte' on Stirling Terrace that's a must stop. Merge at the APPA's for the first time!!! Won 3 Silver Awards!!!

Our adventure started at 3am on the 22^nd of June arriving at the airport to board our flight only to find out it got canceled because of the volcano ash. We straight away re-booked to be on the next available flight. We had entered the APPA’s (Australian Professional Photographic Awards) before but had never been over to see the judging.... So we were not giving up easy!!! The APPAs are judged every year as part of a huge 3 day conference called PMA, each year its location changes and this year the destination was Sydney! With luck on our side we flew out on the same day just a little later and got into Sydney pumped and ready to see our prints getting judged. The weather was beautiful, we must have brought that with us from Perth since it had been raining non-stop prior to our arrival. Watching your prints getting judged was one of the most stressful things ever, sitting on the edge of our seats waiting for our results. We are proud to announce we won 3 silvers awards in the travel category of the 2011 APPA’s!!!!! We of course went out to celebrate with friends we met over the three day conference (and had a blast). Congratulations to all our friends in the industry that also did really well and collected awards.

So in my local coffee shop (the Imp) they have this great poster. The moment I first saw it a few years ago i loved it. Its actually a poster that was created by the British government in 1939 at the beginning of world war II. The other day whilst checking out one of my fav photographers in the states (Jasmine Star) facebook page I saw a similar poster on her wall... I think this ones suits me down to a tee, might have to consider putting it up in my office! Have a fabulous Friday! J

Di & Stephen, Millbrook Winery 28th of May 2011

While visiting Millbrook winery one day before the wedding Stephen and Di watched as a Helicopter landed across the lake and a young man got down and bended knee and proposed to his girlfriend. That's when the idea struck Di that Stephen should arrive via helicopter to their wedding at Millbrook... and so he did (and according to Stephen and his brother Simon it was great fun!) This is the first time I've had the pleasure of photographing at Millbrook Winery in Jarrahdale. Its a little way out of Perth but a gorgeous venue. Di and Stephen had their fingers crossed that the beautiful autumn leaves would stay on the trees long enough for them to feature in their wedding photos... and they did! With it being late May we did have a battle against the setting sun but Di and Stephen were total optimists, so much so we had the best possible weather and light on the day. Their little daughter Ayla was the definition of adorable and stole my heart with her constant question "Whats your name?", and her urge to collect all of the red rose petals on the white carpet at the service. So Cute! It was a pleasure to share your wedding day with you guys. I hope you danced the night away at Millbrook and you enjoyed your week away. Happy Tuesday! J

Mavis & Derell - The Engagement

On the 15th of May I met Mavis and Derell in Leederville for their engagement session. These guys are ADORABLE!!! I have the pleasure of photographing their wedding on the 2nd of October this year and after the fun we had in Leederville I cant wait! Mavis and Derell's wedding will be at Caversham House so for their portrait they wanted something a little different, something not traditional, something edgy... and Mavis was insistent that they had to have a photo in a book shop. Mavis is always dragging Derell into book shops and I think it caught exactly who they are as a couple, I love a photo location that has meaning. We had such a great choice of spots and perfect lighting for this shoot and Mavis and Derell were naturals in front of the camera. So winter is upon us... The wet weather held off for Gillian and Paul's wedding but it was a fight for us against the setting sun... and we won! For the first time in many years we photographed at the gorgeous St Georges Cathedral in the city and Gill and Paul had the unique idea of having their wedding reception at a lawn bowls club in Mosman Park (very entertaining for the guests!). Gill & Paul wanted an old architecture feel for their photos and so for location we got the opportunity to photograph in a new spot in the city, the old Perth Fire Station & Museum and the front of the Old Court house on Hay St. It was such a pleasure being a part of Gill and Paul's wedding day, they were such good sports with us running around like mad women trying to find the right light and beat the setting sun. We hope you guys have an amazing honeymoon (sooo jealous of your long break away!) and hope you love the photos as much as we do! Happy Thursday! J&K

Tania & Daniel Juengling Wedding!!!

We already had the pleasure to work with these guys when we photographed their engagement portrait. I have to say normally on the wedding day you are more nervous then on a portrait but in this case Tania was laughing and enjoying her day from the word go! Getting a message first thing in the morning by her bridesmaid (he he) as you can see in the below photo you couldn't be more relaxed if you tried. Daniel on the other hand got a bit teary and also could not wipe the smile of his face the minute he saw Tania. We loved the service location at Alversoke - Brunswick it was great to photograph something different. Plus when Tania and Daniel couldn't keep their eyes of each other and had so many moments of laughter it made our job so much easier. Family was the most important thing to Lisa and Luke on their wedding day. Being originally from Wales their wedding would mean a gathering in Perth of both of their families from overseas, a rare and perhaps never to be repeated event. The whole day was a family affair. Queens Gardens hosted the service and after a record setting family photo list we zipped off to Victoria Gardens in East Perth and the ABC building on Royal St for some photos with the happy couple... and my were they happy! The cocktail reception at Matilda Bay looked set to be a blast and the fish and chips served in a cute little newspaper cone with the headline "Lisa and Luke get hitched" was a perfect touch. It was a pleasure to be a part of your wedding day guys, it makes our job easy when we have couples like you who are so in love and full of life. Leanne and Aaron got married at Caves House on the 17th of April 2011. Aaron tried to hold back the tears when he saw Leanne walk down the aisle looking stunning in her wedding dress. On this beautiful sunny day Leanne and Aaron said their hand written vows to each other, it’s was so gorgeous. Through out the day Leanne and Aaron were surrounded by heaps of kids, family and close friends. We only had a small bridal party which gave us time to focus more on the loved up bride and groom. ANZAC Day 2011 - Donnybrook

As my father marched to the bagpipes with his medal on his chest my heart swelled with pride. He spoke with passion of our veterans and the gratitude and support that must never waver, it brought a tear to my eye.
As I stood with my mother and my brother watching my father MC this years ANZAC day memorial service in my home town of Donnybrook I could not have been more proud. Love you Dad.

A Jewish wedding full of tradition, Emma and Adams wedding day was always going to be a a big affair. But through it all the love and devotion these two share for each other shone thru. Adam is such a romantic, part of his elaborate proposal to Emma involved a montage of all of the movies they first saw when they dated, we thought it fitting that we use the Luna Cinema as part of their photography for the day to play tribute.... plus everyone got to have popcorn!
The Sunken Gardens at UWA was a beautiful backdrop to their traditional Jewish ceremony and the gorgeous white wooden chairs and paper lanterns were a lovely touch to personalize the service. In fact the attention to detail that Emma put into every part of her day was amazing. From her gorgeous shoes from the UK, stunning flowers and amazing gowns (Brides, Bridesmaids and Mother of the brides) all from Galleria Couture, right down to the candy bar and personalized miniature popcorn boxes at the reception (Pan Pacific).
We were soooo excited to see Emma and Adam do the Horah at the reception (the bride and groom being lifted up on chairs), and we weren't disappointed! Emma you did great, and at least you didn't get dropped!. We hope you both had lots of fun at the reception.

The last Saturday in March played host to Aimee and Adam's gorgeous wedding. It was one of those rare occasions with no bridal party so we had the happy couple all to ourselves for the afternoon on location. The original plans for the day had altered slightly since we'd first met with Aimee back in June 2010 and with those changes came the opportunity to photograph our first wedding reception inside the WA Art Gallery! The combination of Aimee's vintage style dress, the modern Art gallery (with its mixture of both vintage and modern decorations - like the photo booth and the vintage style sweets buffet YUM!) and the modern location of ECU for the photo shoot gave Aimee and Adam's day a very contemporary feel. It was an entertaining day from the word go!!!! The boys surprised us with special underwear that they posed in by strutting their stuff lined up against a wall. We love it when everyone has heaps of fun on their wedding day and these guys definitely did that. A beautiful day for a beautiful couple!!!! The day started with a few delays with the girls getting ready but we caught back the extra time when we needed it. Rachel and Cameron got married at the Rosehill Country Club in an out door service. During the service it was so emotional & wonderful to see Rachel's grandmother blessing the rings before passing them back to Cameron &Rachel. Kelly & Tim - Kings Park Wedding 18th of March 2011

Kelly and Tim's wedding (held at Kings Park - where Tim grew up) was like a little reunion for us, 2 of our previous couples were guests and it was so great catching up. From the very start of the day Kelly had us cracking up, in fact all the girls were a riot. Kelly walked down the aisle to a gorgeous song "Love you till the end" by the Pogues (great choice) and there ceremony (conducted by a celebrant friend) was sweet and simple.
For our location photos we stuck around at Kings Park and then headed off to Leederville, and although we couldn't get to our favorite wall outside the entrance of double lucky we think the shots we did get on the other side still look pretty hot... or is that just the bride? We hope you had as much fun on the day as we did, it really was a pleasure photographing your wedding.
It's clear to us just how perfect you two are for each other, we wish you many many MANY years of happiness! Much Love J&K

We all got eaten by mosquitoes!!!!!!

I got bitten on my forehead at Kings Park while shooting Michael & Natalie's wedding, wow it was a big bite (as you can see in the photo below). I had to fly that night to Melbourne to see my fiancée so I was not to happy but I have to admit in the picture it looks pretty funny!!! I was so lucky that the limo driver had a solution, he gave me some Aerogard to put onto the bite and it went down dramatically. So you learn something new everyday pack Aerogard when going to Kings Park. Thanks K!

Natalie + Michael = Love

On a beautiful sunny day 12th of March 2011 Natalie and Michael got married at St Josephs Priory Church. Natalie was so excited to walk down that aisle, arriving to the church half an hour early which is a record going of by the priest. Michael had the biggest smile on his face when he saw Nataile as he held back the tears. We had heaps of fun with you guys on location at Kings Park apart from getting eaten alive by mosquitoes. For those of you who don't know Karolina recently got engaged to her lovely man Ron (on Valentines day!). To surprise her I flew over to Melbourne with her parents to greet her and Ron when they arrived back from their trip away to Langkawi (Yes there were many tears involved). While there on my whirlwind 4 days i tried to take in a little of Melbourne, do some shopping and hit the town. Melbourne city has some amazing street art (not to mention yummy cafe's and awesome shops!)... I'd LOVE to do some wedding pics there!! On Sunday I had the pleasure of being invited to the launch of a brand new Perth label Theisah. Theisah is the brain child of 2 amazing women Thiana & Ainsle (good friends of mine). They specialize in leather handbags and clutches, sterling silver jewelry, makeup, after spray tan apparel and scented candles... and im sure there will be even more added to that list! The launch (held at the Oxford Hotel) was a huge success and was sponsored by the likes of Scoop and Insite Magazines. Emma + Adam... CUPCAKES!

mmmm.... cupcakes! Emma and Adam had the brilliant idea of using some props for their engagement portrait last weekend. They thought about using balloons, perhaps our empty frame... and settled on the idea of cupcakes! - after all you can eat them at the end of the shoot!
They had a whole bunch that were in the shape of a bouquet (Emma noted that she'd love to do that for her actually wedding flowers but feared she might eat them all before walking down the isle!) as well as some love heart shaped ones and some with their initials on them! So much fun for us... and we got to eat some at the end too! YUM! Thanks guys! J&K
